Letter from the President of the Board 2024

March 11, 2024

Dear Friends of Malvern Cemetery:

The members of the Board of Directors join me in thanking you most sincerely for your continued support of the Malvern Cemetery.  Once again, we are launching our annual financial campaign and soliciting donations to ensure that we can maintain the highest standards possible in the care and upkeep of the Cemetery. You may forward your donations to:  Malvern Cemetery, P.O. Box 306, Station Lennoxville, Sherbrooke, QC J1M 1Z5, or visit our website (www.malverncemetery.com) where you can contribute using PayPal.  Whichever method you choose, a receipt for income tax purposes will be sent to you.

Next Generation

As traditions change from what our parents and grandparents did by visiting and supporting the Cemetery, it is now the responsibility of the next generations to keep their legacy alive.  As we are a privately-owned Cemetery your financial support is very important to our longevity.

Getting in Touch – Database

Our website continues to generate interest in our Cemetery as we continuously receive requests and inquiries from around the world.  The Board of Directors is pursuing its goal of digitizing these records that span over 149 years of history as this information is priceless!

Website improvements: We are pleased to announce the redesign of our website is well underway.

Phase 1:  Bring the existing website up to code with improved software technologies, ensuring cyber security and easier access to information.

Phase 2:  The database of family members will soon give additional detail as to the lot numbers and will correspond to a new location Map.  Last fall we were able to take beautiful ariel photos of the cemetery to accommodate this mapping option.

Phase 3:  Ability to zoom in on the location and once pinpointed, see a photo of the monument.

This is certainly an ambitious project, Phase 1 and 2 will be completed by year end and the last phase will be in 2025.

Sponsor a Tree

This endeavor started in 2018 with two sponsored trees. To date we have planted 45 and is an important part of maintaining the cemetery’s serene beauty.

Having wildlife nearby the cemetery is both peaceful and at times trying, especially with recently planted trees.  To protect them, we designed a circular fence for each tree that does not affect the beauty of the surroundings.

Storms

Over the years our mature trees have been affected by age and weather. We have an annual inspection and trimming program in place, which has certainly paid off, considering the recent climate changes.

Spring Flowers & Wreath Program

The popularity of these two services continues to grow and we look forward to more of you taking advantage of this service.  Please visit our website to place orders.

Any questions regarding lots or maintenance may be addressed to our Cemetery Manager, Ronny Casteur at 819-678-2024.

Sincerely,

Kevin Frost
President
