Dear Friends of Malvern Cemetery:

The members of the Board of Directors join me in thanking you most sincerely for your continued support of the Malvern Cemetery. Once again, we are launching our annual financial campaign and soliciting donations to ensure that we can maintain the highest standards possible in the care and upkeep of the Cemetery. You may forward your donations to: Malvern Cemetery, P.O. Box 306, Station Lennoxville, Sherbrooke, QC J1M 1Z5, or visit our website (www.malverncemetery.com) where you can contribute using PayPal. Whichever method you choose, a receipt for income tax purposes will be sent to you.

COVID 19 – opening up
Normally our annual campaign launch is in the spring, however we thought it was important to wait for more positive times, and we are seeing this slowly happening. For families who decided to delay the celebrations of life at the Malvern Cemetery, we are ready to accommodate you at your convenience.

Next Generation
As traditions change from what our parents and grandparents did by visiting and supporting the cemetery, it is now the responsibility of the next generations to keep their legacy alive. As a privately owned cemetery, your financial support is very important to our longevity.

Getting in Touch – Database
Our website continues to generate interest in our Cemetery, as we consistently receive requests and inquiries from around the world. The Board of Directors is continuing its goal to digitizing these records with over 148 years of history, this information is priceless!
We recently received financial support from the Nichol Foundation, which will help us to get this long-awaited project operational and we thank the family for their kind and generous support.

Thanks
In our busy day-to-day lives, we sometimes forget to take the time to thank those who deserve to be thanked. If you have spent anytime visiting the cemetery you would agree that its tranquil surroundings are wonderful. This could not be attained or indeed maintained, without the dedication of the Casteur family (25 years) and Elaine Lebourveau (12 years).

Past President – Angus McElrea
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Angus McElrea, June 1, 2021. Angus was president from 1999 – 2011 and accomplished a great deal during this period of his leadership. Digitizing records and instigating a capital campaign during a period of insecure financial times were just two of his many valuable accomplishments.
Angus liked to create toys, inventions, and very interesting abstract objects.
He was famous for finding water with a branch and making wooden barometers. This one has been on the cemetery office building for as long as I can remember.
When the weather changes and the barometer branch moves up and down, we can rest assured Angus is still watching over things!

Sponsor a Tree
This endeavour started in 2018, with two sponsored trees. Your continued generosity has enabled us to increase this number to 19. This project is an important part of looking to the future and beautifying the cemetery. Over the past three years, our older mature trees have been damaged by storms. We invite you to consider joining us in making this wonderful project even more successful!

Spring flowers & Wreath program
The popularity of these two services continues to grow and we hope more of you will consider participating in the project. Please visit our website for more information.

Any questions regarding lots or maintenance may be addressed to our Cemetery Manager, Ronny Casteur at 819-877-2338.

Sincerely,
Kevin Frost (President)
